In 1973, Wiech et al. formed Parmatech, when MIM was still in its infancy and little known. It was not until 1979 that its products won two awards in the International Powder Metallurgy Conference Product Design Competition that attracted the attention of the powder metallurgy industry. After Parmatech assigned several of their patents, MIM companies were established.

In 1980, Wiech established Witec Company. In 1982, Brunswick Company entered the MIM industry and acquired Witec Company, and then gradually registered subsidiaries such as Omark Industries, Remington Military Products, and Rocky Dental. In 1986, Nippon Seison of Japan introduced the Wiech process. In 1990, Israel Metalor 2000 Company introduced MIM technology from Parmatech Company and established MIM production line.
